Lightning struck the angel Moroni statue atop the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple on Saturday afternoon, June 13, 2009, during the public open house. The powerful bolt of lightning blackened Moroni's trumpet, arm, and face. A replacement statue was installed on August 11, 2009, 10 days before the dedicatory services began.

The Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple was the first temple built in the same city as another operating temple, the Jordan River Utah Temple (1981), making South Jordan, Utah, the first city in the world to have more than one temple

The Bountiful Utah Temple was the eighth temple built in Utah and the first built in Davis County.

On May 22, 2016, lightning struck the angel Moroni atop the Bountiful Utah Temple, cracking the exterior gold leaf and leaving large holes in the face and back of the fiberglass statue. On June 1, 2016, the Moroni that was originally intended to stand atop the Meridian Idaho Temple was set in place as a replacement angel for Bountiful.

The Ogden Utah Temple was the fifth temple built in Utah and the second built along the Wasatch Front.

The original design for the Ogden Utah Temple included a gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni atop a gold-colored spire.

The statue was eventually eliminated from the design, though one was added over 30 years after its dedication.

The Brigham City Utah Temple will be the fourteenth temple built in Utah and the first built in Box Elder County.

The Brigham City Utah Temple won the PCI Design Award for Best Religious Structure in 2014.
